Virtual Widow

That’s what I feel like at the moment. Husband? What husband? It’s not supposed to be this hard.

I actually got to spend some time with hubby this weekend. He’s been working late lots recently, in fact, I’m waiting for him to come home now, the enchilada’s are waiting to go in the oven! He was working until about midnight on Friday and he worked some of Saturday morning. I’ve joked with him saying that me and some of the other wives should make a club and call it “The *Company Name* Widows”.

Anyhow, this weekend MBM came to stay. So we bored him with kitchen stuff and dragged him along to some kitchen appointments. And we think, that we MAY have found our new kitchen. Going to get one or two more quotes just to make sure, but I’d happily go with the one we saw on Sunday.

The weirdest thing happened yesterday. I got a text message that Andie sent me on New Years Eve. Yep, nearly two months after she sent it!!

We’ve sold one of the cars. We don’t need two. Not when I’m getting the train everyday and hubby is mostly(!) working from home. So it’s goodbye to my little baby. My Ka. We’ve still got it at the mo, and although it was a mutual decision to sell him, I’m going to be heartbroken to see him go. Buying him was a bit of a milestone for me, it marked the end of something bad and the beginning of the rest of my life. I know it’s just a car, but I will miss him. However, in return, I get a shiny new kitchen. Let’s just hope I make it through my six month probation otherwise we’ll have to go out and buy another car.

I have Thursday and Friday off this week. On Thursday evening, hubby, MBM and I are going to Wembley to see Keane. Work has been so mad the last week or so, I’ll be glad of the time off to relax and sleep.  Is it just me, or does anyone else find that on a Sunday night they don’t sleep as well as they do any other night? No? Just me?

I can’t believe Christmas is nearly here. I can’t believe how organised I am. All of the presents are wrapped and under the tree, apart from mine, but hubby is downstairs wrapping them now as we speak. I have five presents, hubby has about ten! Can you believe we got got the other almost exactly the same Christmas card?

This year is the first Christmas in our house, the first Christmas as a married couple, the first Christmas spent with my MBM and the first Christmas dinner I have ever cooked!!

We also got our customary bottle of wine from TWWOTW. It just goes to show how well she knows her staff. Every year, we get a bottle of red. I don’t drink red. She’s also being scarily nice, to everyone. We think it’s because she’s realised that she’s not doing something right because all her staff are leaving. Although, she’s convinced the only reason we’re leaving is because we’re all young and need to progress in our careers. The fact that one girl who left was nearly fifty, didn’t cross her mind.

Oh well, only ten more working days until I start my fantastic new job!!

SmilerThis post is dedicated to my hubby.

I would like you all to offer him a HUGE congratulations on getting a new job!!

I’d also like to say a big thank you to MBM for telling him about the job in the first place.

You see that picture just up there, on the left? That’s the grin I’ve had on my face today. I’m so pleased for him as I know how unhappy he’s been at work recently.

It’s going to pay more, so he’ll actually get the salary he deserves, he can work from home, he’ll get a top spec laptop, a mobile phone, and our broadband connection paid for.

Well done, babe!! I’m really proud of you!

Girlie Weekend

Tomorrow, straight after work, I’m going to Rhyl, in North Wales for a girlie weekend with the girls I’m working with at the secondment. There are five of us going. Two of us are married, one of us is living with someone and two of us are single. A nice mixture.

It should be a good weekend. We come back Sunday lunchtime. I am looking forward to it, just for a break, but it’s going to be weird being there without my husband.

Since we’ve been together (it’ll be two years in Feb), we’ve never had a single weekend apart. We didn’t live together for the first six months of our relationship, but we still spent every weekend together. And since we’ve lived together, we haven’t spent a night apart.

What if he decides he prefers being without me??

It’ll be fine, I’m sure it will, but I have to admit that I’m going to miss him. It’s just gonna be a bit weird is all.
