This is why I don’t like religion.
What kind of religion would tell you that your belief is more important than your family. In fact, isn’t it a bit like committing suicide? Leaving your new born twins to be brought up by your husband, the guy who adored you, and you choose your faith over being a mother?
It just makes me mad, that a religion has so much of a hold over some people. I’m all for having a faith, just as long as it doesn’t split families up.
Christ doesn’t split families up…he’s all for them. I don’t really understand Jehova Witnesses, my great aunt was one…and they celebrate nothing, not even a birthday…which amuses me, because people celebrated endlessly in the bible, so why can’t they? I don’t like the word “Religion” or “religious” either…I religiously wash my hands everdya before I eat, it doesn’t mean I have any faith in it beside the fact that I may have less dirt on my hands than I would have if I didn’t wash. I have faith the Christ Jesus is and Saves, and after that life is a journey to him, and its free.
P.S.
My blog name has changed…it is no longer “I Wanna be Evil”…I am now “A Saint in Black Stilettos”…I love it!
I’ve questioned my beliefs for a long time. Still do. But the only thing I do know is ‘religion’ causes more problems than it solves. War in the name of God. Makes no sense to me.
I hate those stories. What’s even worse is when the parents refuse medical treatment for their children. It sickens me and is such a waste when a life could be saved by a simple procedure.
You know, my God is a forgiving one. If I needed a blood transfusion, I’m sure God would forgive me for taking it…even if it was against my belief. Why do people lose sight of that?
Yeah, it’s so hard to understand what kind of religion asks people to make those kinds of choices.
Let’s get a couple of things straight from the get-go: I don’t agree with the belief in not allowing blood transfusion.
“Religion” is a set of beliefs adhered to. You are probably ranting about (another misnomer) “Organized Religion”, which would be more correctly stated: Church.
For the comment ‘religion causes more problems than it solves’ — silliness. It’s akin to saying cars cause more problems than they solve. It’s a way to get from A to B. Some people use it wrongly and people die or get hurt. Everyone has a choice to use it, or not to. Ban all cars? Don’t think so.
If I understand the “reason” the JWs don’t do blood transfusions is because of the belief that a person’s behavior and individual “quirks” are there and if a person has a latent serial killer in them it could cause issues….I may be wrong, but I thought that was the thing. So my counter to that would be: Get your 144K to give blood. Obviously they are OK, right?
You’re right, I guess. BTW, my blog is called Serendipity too…what a coincidence! It’s a lovely word, ain’t it?
Happy Blogging to you.
